Noscapine is chemically (3S)-6,7-Dimethoxy-3-[(5R)-4-methoxy-6-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinolin-5-yl]isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one (as per EP) ; 1(3H)-Isobenzofuranone, 6,7-dimethoxy-3-(5,6,7,8-tetra hydro-4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinolin-5-yl), [S-(R*,S*)]- (as per USP). It is also known as Narcotine ; Papaverine EP Impurity A. Noscapine is supplied with detailed characterization data compliant with regulatory guideline.
